Logline: Every five years since 1930, the community of Taft, California gathers for a celebration paying homage to the oil pioneers of the American West. Fearing the impending loss of both jobs and ‘small-town Americana values,’ the stakes of this year’s Oildorado celebration feel higher than ever. Playing out over the course of a single, spectacular day, Oildorado (working title) is an entirely observational, experimental documentary short that captures a town fighting to hold on to a way of life and an industry in inevitable decline.
